Christmas in Brixham

The season is approaching fast, and we have a couple of pictures of Brixham's Christmas decorations. One is of the Christmas tree by the Coast Guard Office and one of Father Christmas stranded in the mud. The town is trying its best I think this year to brighten things up. Sadly Woolies has gone, but not just in Brixham countrywide I fear. I notice the 'Tutti Frutti' Ice cream parlour has gone the way of a number of other shops. Gambling appears to be thriving in the town with to large Betting Shops open.

I've been busy - so has the Council

I have not posted for a while as I have been rather busy doing other things. Last week we went to Paignton, just to do a small amount of shopping. To my horror, but not to my surprise we now have parking meters in the Square. At one time people used this area as quick stop parking place. Now folk seem to be staying longer, so less people are buying in the local shops. We bought a few items in the Craft shop, had a coffee in Rossiters(so0n to disappear I see). This added £1 to my trip. I think I will simply move my trade to the Willows. Goodbye Paignton!!

Casino goes full steam ahead!!!

Headlines in the local rag, trouble is cruise ships are no longer steam, just as a down turn in the economy is on the cards we go for a Casino.

"It can't just be a stand-alone casino, on the seafront with a lot of one-armed bandits, it's got to be a cruise ship experience," he said. "That's why the talk of a referendum is so much nonsense because we first want to see what it is on offer.

"Torbay is the only major seaside resort in the region to get this opportunity, and we have got a lot of people interested in the Mayoral Vision proposals. I have had to turn down several offers of hospitality from operators as the process has got to be absolutely open and fair. We can't just say we have got a preferred operator, we have got to select the best deal for Torbay."

I suspect Torquay is the only place around here that wants a Casino, will it bring jobs, don't hold your breath.
